I would like to propose my candidacy for Dragonflow PTL position. Dragonflow has recently joined OpenStack big-tent but i have been working on it from the start even before the Kilo release. Leading the open design/architecture of the project and doing most of the implementation in the first stages of the project. Recently many new people joined to work on this project both internally and externally and i am making sure the project runs transparently while constantly receiving community feedback. My goal for Dragonflow is to make it a reference architecture to implement networking and distributed networking services in an easy and simple manner while supporting production grade and large scale requirements. I think that Dragonflow pluggable architecture is proving to be a strong choice we made and is even being considered at other OpenStack networking projects. I also believe that our simplicity can be very appealing to users that want a simple network virtualization solution part of OpenStack. An important goal is to keep Dragonflow an integral part of OpenStack and make sure to address the various use cases of OpenStack deployments in terms of networking. My missions for the next release: * Stability and Scale testing, making sure what we have and the road we picked actually address the milestones we set for our self. * Work with the community to define testing standards for both control and data plane testing and measurements that can help OpenStack users pick the best fit solution for their networking. I would also like to work on defining quality standards for DB consistency and correct solution and feature sets definition for the various different plugins. * Work with a wider OpenStack community and additional different users, i personally see Dragonflow as a community effort and put a strong emphasise on diversity and solutions to more different use cases the wider community has. * Service Injection and Chaining - this topic describe our extension model and how different users can use external applications and even controllers to work hand in hand with Dragonflow and be able to insert logic to our pipeline. This concept is very important to keep Dragonflow simple but also be able to easily extend it and be able to address various different use cases. * Containers networking and close integration with project Kuryr, making sure Dragonflow can be used as a solution for nested containers and bare metal. * More advance distributed networking services like IGMP, Load balancer, DNS service and more that can be reference architecture for building distributed networking services on one infrastructure. * Keep writing blogs and conducting meetups for new contributors and users, enhance our project documentation and best practices and sharing our experience with the wider community. As you can see i am planning a very challenging release but i believe that we can do it and i would like to help this happen. Thanks Gal.
