i have tested this now on both a clean ubuntu 18.04 install and a previously stacked one and both seam to work.

ill leave this open for a few days and i might try the centos 7 build.

i should be able to add a ci job in a week or two to test fufture change and i need to add some docs for this. too but ill do that in follow up patches.
